Another week down and I am feeling a little defeated. Or, at least, I was during weekly weigh-in. I’m a little more optimistic now. I lost nothing this week. Not a single pound. I was a little shocked as I had spent the week meticulously counting calories and even getting in some extra exercise in the form of dancing around my house which, according to my Fitbit, allowed me to burn an extra 200+ calories each time. I thought, for sure, I would lose something. I was down for about an hour before I remembered that I had learned another lesson this week that undoubtedly had an impact on my weight loss this week.
First, I remembered that I had a really bad weekend after my last weigh-in. If you recall, I weigh myself on Friday mornings. Any messing up I might do on the weekend can usually be corrected and then some by the next weigh-in. However, last weekend was particularly bad. It started off ok but quickly turned into a carb fest. And, the more carbs I consume, the more I want. So, I know that impacted my weight loss this week.
Second, while I knew a little of the impact carbs have on my huger level, I learned about it big time this week. I woke up on Monday morning last week starving. I was so hungry. I didn’t break down and got back on track, surprisingly, but I was really hungry. My carb-filled weekend most definitely was to blame. So, my big lesson this past week was DO NOT overconsume the carbs. I will feel tired, hungry, and a little sick for several days if I do.
On the bright side, once I remembered all this and really thought about it, it was then that I realized that my week was pretty good. I may not have lost anything but I didn’t gain, either. My weight was the exact same as last week. I would have gained some weight from my weekend that probably took being good the rest of the week to lose. We always gain faster than we lose. So, in reality, I probably lost weight from all my effort. Unfortunately, it was weight I gained from my weekend.
I will be much more careful during my weekends from now on.
