Women do a lot. We work, we keep house, we raise children, we are constantly busy. We must remember to take some time to do something for ourselves. Here are 8 ways to spoil and pamper yourself ranging from free to mildly expensive.
A Long Bath
Fill the tub with the perfect temperature water. Add some bubble bath or, my personal favorite, a few drops of essential oil. Light some candles and climb in for a long soak. Bring a good fiction book with you or a great bath pillow if you just want to lie back with your eyes closed. Bonus if you have a whirlpool tub.

A Great Manicure & Pedicure
Spoil yourself with a great manicure and/or pedicure. Don’t just get your usual quick mani/pedi. Take some time to enjoy a more luxurious version. My favorite pedicure at my usual salon is a lavender scented pedicure that includes a leg scrub and a hot stone massage. Sometimes you just need a little extra love.
A Massage
I love a good massage. Swedish, hot stone, deep tissue. They all have their places. I can’t afford to get one too often but it is nice to spoil myself on occasion. A massage works all the kinks out of your muscles and relaxes you as no other thing can. I feel great for about 2 weeks after a massage and highly recommend you spoil yourself, too.
Shaved Legs
Ok, this one is a little silly, but it is something that can make you feel amazing that we don’t always think about. You may be the type that shaves weekly but, if you are busy like me, that doesn’t always happen. Especially in the winter when my legs are covered up anyway. Shaving my legs and then slathering them in cocoa butter is an amazing feeling. And it’s cheap, too!
A Good Facial
If you can, get a professional facial done. It is relaxing to lay there while someone else takes care of you, for a change. If you can’t afford to get a professional facial done, you can still pamper yourself by doing one at home. Follow these simple steps:
- Wash your face.
- Heat some water and pour it in a bowl with a few drops of essential oil. Place your face over the steam along with a towel over your head to keep the steam in. This will open your pores.
- Exfoliate with a gentle exfoliator.
- Apply a mask. Arbonne has a great deep cleaning mask that helps to remove dirt and oil from within your pores.
- After rinsing off the mask, apply a toner followed by any serums and treatments you use.
- Apply Eye Cream.
- Finally, apply a moisturizer.
Your face will feel refreshed after this routine. For more information on good skincare and the basics of a skincare regimen, see Know Your Skin .
A Great Skincare Line
As mentioned above, a great facial can be an amazing indulgence but a great skincare line and routine is a must for pampering yourself on a daily basis. There are some amazing skincare lines out there and sometimes you have to test a few to find the one that fits you the best.
My personal favorite is Arbonne. I like it so much, I decided to start selling it. Arbonne’s products are built on a Swiss heritage and conform to European standards. They are plant-based, pH correct, hypo-allergenic, vegan certified, and have never tested on animals. They are also formulated without:
- Gluten
- Petrolatum
- Animal Products or By-Products
- Formaldehyde-Donating Preservatives
- Chemical Dyes and Fragrances
- Parabens or Phthalates
- Artificial Sweeteners, Colors, or Flavors
Whatever line you find that works best for you, make sure it is of the highest quality ingredients. Remember, you are what you absorb and your skin absorbs a lot.
New Makeup
We all have our normal makeup routine. It’s the makeup we were on a daily basis. For a special treat, go have your makeup done professionally or pick up some new colors and try out a new look. It can be a fun way to spend a few hours and you may end up with a look you love. If you don’t want a whole new look, indulge in something new that you’ve always wanted to try. I once fell in love with a lip gloss that had 24k gold flakes in it. It was gorgeous! And, although I didn’t wear it often, it always made me feel a little indulgent.
A Signature Scent
Everyone needs a signature scent. It’s that one perfume you can’t live without that smells perfect on you. Everyone knows that scent is you. My current scent is Daisy by Marc Jacobs. If you haven’t found yours yet, keep looking. Test a few out. Head to the perfume counter and see if you can take home some samples to try. Find one that makes you feel like the day ahead is bright and full of possibilities.
